Did You Know?
Hairy Wood Mint is pollinated primarily by specialist long-tongued bees including little carpenter bees, mason bees, and leaf-cutting bees — a VIP pollinator lounge.
The 'hairy' in its name refers to the dense covering of soft hairs on its stems and leaves, distinguishing it from its smoother cousin Downy Wood Mint.
Its mint-scented foliage makes it virtually deer-proof, and it is one of the best native mints for deep shade gardens where few other pollinator plants will thrive.
