The species name 'oolentangiense' comes from the Olentangy River in Ohio, where the plant was first formally described.
Unlike many asters that spread aggressively, Sky Blue Aster is a clump-former that stays where you plant it.
The flowers are arranged on long, graceful stalks giving the plant an airy, floating appearance unlike the dense clusters of most asters.
